Room Heater Information, Links and Bargains
Welcome to RoomHeater.co.uk, the one-stop site
for domestic room heater buyers, with our home energy information
and general heating links plus some great value electric radiators,
fan heaters and other ways of efficiently taking the chill off an
individual room.
When the temperature heads south and the ground
begins to freeze, many of us look for affordable ways of heating
particular parts of our homes. If you need a bit of extra warmth
in the bedroom for half an hour when you get up in the morning
or if you're coming in from the cold after a day out in the
snow, a room heater may be exactly what you're after.
As the name suggests, a room heater heats the air in a single
room. You don't need to crank the central heating boiler right
up, you won't be toasting the whole house and your finances
shouldn't be hit so hard. Room heaters can be a saviour to
those who are without central heating, especially on the coldest
days, but it should always be remembered that no form of heating
is cheap to run.
The keys to getting the most out of your room
heater are...
-
(a) Stay safe at all times.
-
(b) Be realistic; don't expect your heater
to bring a ballroom sized space up to temperature.
-
(c) Be aware of the energy / power / fuel
consumption and the cost of running your heater compared
to your other options.

If you need a solution for heating your entire house
around the clock, then you will need to look at permanent fixed options
such as gas or oil fired central heating. If, however, you have a
relatively modest room, and you don't want to heat it for a long period
of time, then a room heater may well be for you. Prices start at less
than £20 for a cheap electric fan heater and go up to over £100
for the higher end convection and radiant heaters.
Choose your Room Heater with care. It is essential
that your heater is suited to its environment, the people using the
space and that safe operation is possible at all times. Elderly relatives
will have difficulty moving around larger heaters. Naked flames are
not suitable in many situations and gas, electricity and kerosene
can all be extremely hazardous if not treated with the utmost caution
and safety in mind.
Safety Precautions. Room heaters
come in a variety of types and sizes, and it is essential that you
follow all the manufacturer's safety instructions and take great care
when using the appliance. See the 'Safety@Home' section for more details.
