Room Heater Energy Info
Welcome to RoomHeater.co.uk, the one-stop site
for UK room heater buyers, with our domestic home heating info plus
some great value room heaters up for sale. In this section we look
at the different fuels, energy or power sources used by a range of
heaters.
Electricity Electric heaters come in range of
guises including the electric fire, upright heater and fan heater.
Electricity is also used to power a range of portable oil-filled radiators.
Obviously, all of these appliances run off mains electric, so will
be of no use in the event of a power-cut.
Bottled Gas. Popular with the caravanning community,
bottled gas is used in portable gas heaters. It is independent of
the mains and capable of generating a substantial amount of heat.
Paraffin / Kerosene. This liquid fuel can be
found in a variety of paraffin lamps and heater designs. It is another
fuel that isn't reliant on a mains supply. A single full tank of fuel
will burn for a reasonable period of time and spare fuel can be stored
outside the house in suitably safe and secure fuel cans.
Other. Hot air ducts, underfloor heating, heat
exchange pipes, fuel oil and other methods of heating may all be considered,
in certain circumstances, as alternatives to the seemingly ubiquitous
gas powered central heating. They do not, however, fulfil the 'portable'
criteria that most people would expect from a room heater.
